Wish List 2012

Last year, I wished for an iPod touch with an engraving. I got an iPod Nano from ex bosses.

I wished for a skin care system that is natural and friendly to my sensitive skin. I had a bad experience earlier this year and was forced to switch to something else. Thanks to bff, Shirley's recommendation to use Cetaphil. My skin is getting much better on top of the frequent consultation from the dermatologist.

I wished for a diary year 2011 and I was given one when I report to work. So, I can cross that out as well.

Down to two things that are not in my possession yet: a pin up drawing of myself and a Christmas log.

This time, I am giving up on the Christmas log. It is just too silly to wish for something like that at this age. *uh hum*

My new public wish list:-
1. Lytro Camera (http://www.lytro.com/)

Yes, it may look funny but this little camera can do wonders! Notice the above baby picture? You can just change the focus the picture with one click! Try it out yourself here.

2. Mac Book Air

This is a consequential request. Visuals from Lytro camera can only be processed by Mac :P

3. Smart for two

Wanted the car in the longest time I can think of. Perhaps since the day I lay my eyes on it.

Many of you may not know, I am quite a fan of Hello Kitty. Bla bla bla...

4. A trip to Bali

I love islands because I long for beaches. This year, I want to be spend a week in Bali.

5. 5 high heels

*Pictures are for illustration purpose only. Don't think I can even stand properly with the heart shape heels

[Movie Reflection] One Day

I have abandoned this place for a while. I know. I know...

Watched another movie on my own last night and this time, I really could not sleep.

There was no true friendship. They were madly in love with each other.
There was no rules. They were meant to be broken anyhow.

The moment when you walked past me, I know we will be together as long as I breath.

Realization came much later than expected and only time can heal. I am sure you will cure me out of you.

XOXO

Remembering Baba and Nyonya

Remembering Baba and Nyonya.

My memory of watching their dramas is fading. Somehow when I heard people saying things about Baba and Nyonya, I recalled Uncle Chee and Kenny.

The last time I saw the duo, as most of us did, was in Nasi Lemak 2.0. I was reminded of how humorous they are. I was once again brought back to the times when I watched their shows in front of the 14 inch TV set.

After Nasi Lemak 2.0, I went back home and was yapping away about how little I was when I used to watch their dramas. Boyfriend said he saw them once in a wedding dinner before. At the moment, I told myself that I want them to host my wedding reception too!

Duo no more. Uncle Kenny is left alone. RIP Uncle Chee. I <3 you

Good bye, my friend.

Warning! This is a super emo post.

May 12. I wrote him an email. I told him about the wisdom teeth and the visits to dentist.

May 13. He wrote back. Bitter and angry.

May 13. Another email. I poured my heart out and perhaps said the things I have been keeping with me for years.

May 14. "We can talk until everything is resolved" he said.

May 23. He wanted an answer if anything is happening.

May 23. I was reluctant and fearful.

May 24. Email replied. He said, "go in peace"

May 25. Alex, I wish you well.

New Job - Day 2

It has been a while since the last time I blog. Just couldn't discipline myself to do just that at least weekly.

Yesterday was my first day to the new job. I know the change is great in regards to the nature of the job, I am very glad I am here today.

I wanna thank my best friend, Sin Zi for this. As she was on the lookout for her first job, I was helping her to keep an eye on Jobstreet. I was doing the search and found this job ad. To my dismay, they actually called me in for an interview. I am more than contented now.

I have to say that the culture here is of great difference from the previous. Here, they speak whatever it goes up to their mind. With that, I mean to say that they say ANYTHING. Sitting opposite of my cubicle is the graphic designers. Behind them is the PR peeps. I think I feel like home already...

Anyhow, I treasure the experiences I obtained from the past five months looking at numbers.

I am blogging this as the lunch time passes.

June Days Have Gone

First day of July. Time for recap:-

1. I met Ar Chan who hosted my favorite childhood variety show. What's more? He's bf's uncle!
2. I went for the second job interview in my life.
3. I yawned almost 50 times in one day.
4. Saw the wedding of the century between a middle aged Chinese man and a young Malay lady.
5. I had most pimples this month.
6. I attended the first Malay wedding in my life.
7. I hung out almost once a week with my Penang friends which I thought we would not do the same if we were to be in Penang.

Very uneventful. I almost thought it never exists. Lolz.

New Job

Stressful. Very stressful.

Today, I finally can breath a lot easier. I have secured it. Whether or not it serves me well. I know I can stay at least for a while there.

"It" is the new job!

When they called me, I was munching the caesar salad and talking to a new friend in O'Briens.

"Hi, I am calling from XXX regarding your application."

Me, *I got signed up meh?* "Erm, do you think you can call me back later? I am meeting a friend right now."

30 minutes later,

" Hi, I am calling from XXX. Can you come for interview on Thursday night at 8pm?"

Me, *What?!?!* "Do you think I can get back to you regarding this? I will call you at this number?"

"Sure. I will send you an email with the address and details."

Me, *still surprised* "Thanks a lot!"

I quickly logged on to Jobstreet and there I am, applied for too many positions till I do not remember exactly which is which.

I went for the interview of course.

I did not expect anything, really. I wanted to keep my promise which I made three months ago.

After Thursday night, I kept thinking about it. I even dreamt about it!

Praise to Lord, I got it!!!

[Movie Reflection] Henry's Crime

Saturday night.

Never knew that this will be appealing except the fact that Keanu Reeves is acting.

I can tell you what this movie is about in simple terms: A story about a man learning how to say "no".

Henry could not say "no" to:-
1. His wife who wants a child from him
2. His routine boring job
3. His faded love to the wife
4. His demanding friends
5. The life that he thinks he suppose to live

Temporal time out in jail appears to be his alternate from the jail in reality. Good choice I have to say. I would go to jail too if prison is not that dark...

When we learn to love ourselves, things change. We find ourselves being able to love others and for others to do the same.

Meet me in Moscow.

Good night!

May Days are Over

It's the last day of May.

I am a very sentimental person. I wished I have a diary so I can keep all the thoughts in there. *yawn*

What happened in May:
30th April - 2nd May: Went for church camp in Malacca
3rd May: Told my best friend that I wanted to unfriend him
4th May: Booked the hotel for the trip in Bangkok with besties
10th May: Met the web designer for the first time
18th May: Consulted dentist for the very first time in my life
23rd May: 1. Toothache! 2. My best friend decided to unfriend me
24th May: Extacted the left two wisdom teeth
25th May: Bought air tix to SG next year

What can I say about those?

[Movie Reflection] White Ribbon - German

Ever since I started working, I do not have the me-time to watch the me-type-movie.

I extracted my teeth on Tuesday and I kinda have a little of time to have some moment for myself. Downloaded this for a while already. Finally get to watch it.

I don't remember where I found out about this movie. Nevertheless, it is one of those thought provoking ones.

Reflection:-
1. It depicts the environment where women and children listen to the man in the house and no one else.
a. The doctor not only finger his daughter, he despise the midwife as and when he wishes to.
b. It's actually okay for the father to beat the son to death.
c. Women are objects. They do not have choices. Probably the rich ones do.

2. There were real love.
What a man would do for his love? At those times, women marry the one the father grants permission to. What kind of life would that be?

3. It remind me of my high school life. I was forced to keep my hair short. I was forced to take part in one of the club activities which I never fond of. Things that I love never happen in high school. Either it was not of parents' desire or it-is-just-not-how-things-works-here.
Soon after I left high school, I was free like a bird. It was as if I have came out of the shell. Just like the pastor's children. They do things they love without the knowledge of the parents. The more they do not like it, they do it more frequently.

These are just my thoughts. It never tells who committed the crimes.

[CG] Smarter People Do Not Believe in God

Referring to the cell group discussion last Friday. I wanna say something.

*Yeah, I am always ready to say something. Thank you for sharing.* something only Canaan CG members will know =P

Bernadette pointed out her realisation in University where smart people do not believe in God. Or SMARTER people do not believe in God.

Well, of course Ah Weng explained most part of it. Here are my two cents worth.

Yes, it doesn't make sense that God creates people if we put science and all the relevant studies into perspective.

I can only ask you one thing to basically conclude it all. IS CONSCIENCE OF NATURE OR NURTURE?

*A question which is always debatable*

I personally think conscience is of nature. No doubt about it. If we are meant to learn the rights and wrongs from others, what make you think others derive that from? Facts about religions are for the betterment of human kind is definitely discounted. Nobody should learn from anybody if that is the case. Where is the basis for that person is better than the other? Kinder than the other?

We believe in the Higher Power because there are always things that we cannot explain. Chicken or egg?

We are made in His image and if we do not carry the one thing that He wants us to have, I guess we are then merely puppets. How you want your puppets to be?

"If He wants us well, why are there sufferings? Why are there devils?"

Simple. Because then only you can compare.

"Compare with the devils so we know His existence?"

You got that right.

"Making some to suffer so we can understand that? That may be too shallow."

That's how men understand most things - through the lens of the superficial eyes. Those who are suffering never suffered with faith. What is external can never affect a person if there is no possibility to make sense out of the pain. Same thing applies, if you do not believe it exists, it will never be real. What you chose to believe is what you aspire to be.

Miss Chin's Milestone Party

Feel the positive ions!!

April is my best month, as always. Back when I was still studying, April has not been too nice to me. Despite the fact that it is my birthday month, I never liked the fact that it is also the exam month. Remember your yearly first semester final exam? When it falls on my birthday, I felt like my days are falling apart… “WHY DO YOU DO THIS TO ME?!?!”

1. Setting foot to work

This year, it’s not the same anymore! I began to work and thus, no more exams. Unless there is a deadline for my work which I think, for now, is not really possible. Nothing much to say about my first job. As you can read here, I didn’t really have many things to say either.

2. Room warming

The day before my first day of work, I moved into the new place. Here, I start a new life. New place, new work. Almost everything is new now.

I think some of my friends have been told about the room warming since the days I got the confirmation to move to the new place. Here you are! Btw, it is just room warming, not house warming ok.

3. Convocation

Convocation on the 10th (Just so you know). Parents and siblings are coming to celebrate with me. For the very first time in our home, someone is getting a degree while the rest are still hammering the books till they get one. Not a super big thing for me. Well, I guess I will not know until the day has come.

4. 24th Birthday

What is most exciting is of course my birthday la kan? =P

Want a wish list or not? I can give you one upon request. Lolz.

I shall name this gathering as “Miss Chin's Milestone Party

**Dear church members, I am trying my best to set this event to be held after Easter Sunday but I realized the weekend after that is already May! I hope you are joining me for church camp. Looking forward to Sherman’s inspirational and fruitful sharing!**

Here are the details:-

THIS IS A POOL SIDE PARTY!!

Venue: Level 1, Casa Damanasara 2

Time: 8pm – 11 pm

Dress code: Casual/Swimming attire (so I have more reasons to push you into the pool)

Food served: [No dinner served. Let’s not do the Malaysian thing to only sit, eat and drink. Social sikit boleh? =P ]

1. Beers (Bf’s friends will be sponsoring), fruit juices, carbonated soft drinks, plain water

2. Finger food – potato chips, French fries, peanuts, chicken nuggets, sausages

3. Salad

4. Fruits

Here are the things that you MUST bring, or else… it’s just too sad that I have to feed you with other means or I will have to kick you out =D

1. Your own bowl/plate, fork, cup/mug and napkins (BYO = Brin Your Own)

· Rationale: To minimize the amount of solid waste that will be produced

· Do not worry about how to wash it. I will be guiding you to how to wash them before you start eating

· I am not trying to be difficult. I am trying to set a trend here which shall function as a standard to the gathering/event that I personally will be hosting in the future

· If you do not want to bring your own, you can use your hand to eat and drink from the pipe or something…

See you there!

Vivid Dream

Last night, I had a dream that my boss was driving me to lunch. On the way back from lunch, she said,

"Catherine, I just noticed you have double chin. Putting on some weight ya?"

This morning, I woke up thinking and feeling fat. As I reached the office, I realised that it was merely a dream. Because my boss doesn't drive!!

As I was telling bf about this just now, he said,

"You memang have double chin. This chin *touching my chin* and your surname is Chin"

*_*

The Wandering Mind

I was driving to One Utama and spotted this in the sky.

Someone told me it is the emission of the plane that is operated by a trainee pilot.

I wish I could do that too...

My First Full Time Job

My security pass.

Wrong name, it’s CHIN TZY YING. Don’t ask me why, it always happens. I think it’s my writing. I will TRY to write better the next time.

Can’t tell where I am working, ain’t it? =P

Here, I am taking up the greatest challenge to do something out of my comfort zone. It is something which I have never thought that I will be taking up for my full time job. It feels like listening to a different genre of songs that originated from Hulukan (Don’t ask me where that is. I don’t think it exists).

My mentor told me to think of it as being paid to learn. I actually feel better that way =)

I have something else that actually made my day pretty much.

I got an email from a fairly big company and the sender was requesting if I can take up the opportunity to work for them. I was reading it before I went to sleep last night. You can try to imagine how I was trying to keep myself down from making the news too surprising to anyone. To date, not many people are aware of this fact and I did not plan to make it known to everybody. Hated to be jinxed like the time before this. Oh well, I am only available for other posts in Sept. I am sure hope they will wait for me. Or else, it’s just too bad…

There She Goes Again

Ever since the first interview on 4th March, I sorta know that I am not gonna go for other interviews. I was thinking of making things better by not burning the bridge too soon for the others. I did that anyhow. In fact, I am glad that I did because that MADE time for me to do the necessary cleaning and moving.

Monday

Got the key in the morning. Headed to the The Bee for lunch. Contemplated in the restaurant. That was when a lot of picture taking took place.

As much as I do not want to skip the interview, I did. So, I went to Cold Storage and got the stuffs for cleaning purpose.

Before I started off with anything, I decided to have another series of picture taking. Intention: to have the satisfaction for having to be able to polish everything clean and clear.

After cleaning, I was bored. So I camwhored.

Tuesday

Suppose to have another interview but I sent the email JUST IN TIME to cancel it. This time, the real moving in!

I have to say that I am very proud of myself by having the room done by myself. Many thanks to you, Catherine! =P

I finally have my own dressing table! First one ever!!

Satisfied me

Yeah, that's my share of the wardrobe. Fully utilized!

I recently fell in love with taking pictures of my feet...

Uh hum, excuse me ah!

Raptors Watch – Annual Event by MNS

Vomited the night earlier and I guess I should be very much dehydrated. Well, that’s another story…

My cell group leader is one of those who think the idea of bird watching is exciting. Not for me, actually. However, I guess everything has its own first time.

On board with me was Chow Pong, the infamous environmentalist (He never admits that he is). There we go for the raptors watch in Tanjung Tuan, Port Dickson.

Many cars. Seriously... Thinking back, I should have taken a picture of that to show you.

We took a tour to the mangrove. I was not completely thrilled if you ask me.

Understand this. I used to stay in “kampong” where snakes, reptiles, king fishers or other exotic animals like owls are normal to me. We see them almost every day. My aunt used to stay by the beach where my mom would brought the four of us there for picnic and when the season is right, we would be catching “lala” or in the more correct term, “siput”. The best part is of course the dinner!

Coming back to the tour, I found it really fascinating! A lot of things become clear to me. I always wonder why the concrete platform looks so weird with small stones on it especially when they are just next to the beach. I thought it may be the course of the water that pushes to the shore that eroded the initial structure of it. Well, now I know better that it is not! Living things are on it and I have been stepping on them for whatever reasons…

Our guide to the mangrove

Not dung ok! They are the sand balls the crabs made

roots

Found a heart shaped stone!

Look at the root! Look at the root!

We went up to the light house. I was really looking forward to it. Actual fact is that I went there just to see the light house within close distance. (I was in Port Dickson for more than 2 months and I never got the chance to do so. Shame on me.) Going up to the hill was a little exhausting. Thanks to the lack of physical excises. Yes, I did manage to go up there but it was nothing like I imagine. Expected too much out of it… As for the raptors, they were not out yet.

As we were in the café chilling, all of them began to wonder in the sky in group! It was a great view. U gotta see it to know what I am trying to word here.

Uncle CP scratching his head like the monkeys

*click to enlarge to see the flock of birds*

This is not a green event. I can assure you. If you think animal lovers are equally passionate about preserving the natural environment, you may be wrong. Same thing applies, you may be wrong if you think environmentalists are equally passionate about animals.

That aside, when I said that it is not a green event, I mean to say that there are no or little measures taken to ensure that materials involved and used in this event are environmentally friendly. Nop, I am not talking Catherine terms (Some of you may know how critical I am when it comes to the carbon footprint). I think any layman can tell that the packagings used are not environmentally friendly. The irony. We can never get everyone to be aware of the impact they created. The fact that they are coming forward to the event and showing support to MNS is quite a good start. At least, they are not emitting carbon in the shopping mall or sleeping with air conditioner on for more than 10 hours. That’s my two cents worth.

Now, it just gives the energy to do something. I shall make this another blog post.

SPM Result Slip + Foundation Cert

Over the telephone with mom:-

Me: Ma, help me to find my Foundation cert and SPM result slip.
Mom: Where you keep?
Me: Somewhere at home.

Mom found my SPM cert magically and she asked if sister knew where I placed the Foundation cert. Sister called:-

Sis: Where you put your Foundation cert?
Me: Somewhere at home.

And then both Foundation cert and SPM result slip are on their way to PJ.

Being Chinese-ed

I know I am chinese-ed.

Most of the times, I will ignore people who talk to me in that frame of mind.

Seriously?

1. I do not know what lala really means. And I think it is a compliment for not being described as one.
2. Yes I know mandarin but it does not mean that I know everything about China.
3. I never been to China. Yet.
4. Kiasu, kiasi & kiaboh. That is for typical Chinese, not the Chinese-ed only. And also, there is no relationship between Chinese-ed or otherwise and those characteristics.
5. We listen to Chinese songs because they are nice not because we are a bunch of emo people. Excuse me?!

to be continued

Stupid Question Like These

I got strangers came by sometimes asking incredibly silly questions:-

1.
Stranger : Do you feel younger after sex?
Me : I am 24 and I think I'm still young.
Stranger: Yeah, like feeling younger?
Me: Feeling like 5 each time after sex?!

2.
Stranger : Can I date you?
Me : I have a boyfriend.
Stranger : A small date, please?
Me : I don't know what a small date is like. Does that got to do with what is inside your pants?

[Movie Reflection] Copie Conforme

*Just another reflection*

She is the best actress. Period.

You need to watch the show to know what I am talking about.

By the end of the movie, you may be thinking, "WTF??!! Is she or is she not the wife? Where does he come from and how does he fit into the small lie she made?!"

I know. *It's complicated*

I didn't read any reviews before this post and I don't plan to. I thought I am better off sticking to my own interpretation.

I can tell you for sure:-
1. They are strangers to each other before they met privately
2. They are not mutually in love before going to the church

To me, what happened:-
1. When they talk to each other, they are talking in the language they use to their partners.
2. It is not his kid.
3. He tried to convince her to take up his opinions but he knew very well he could never done so.

If you have watched it and enjoyed it, please talk to me. WE NEED TO TALK! <3

[Movie Reflection] Poetry

I was in awe. Think it was the clock.

Watch the trailer PLS

I was watching that myself. Not knowing what she is talking, I relied heavily on the subtitles.

No idea about the Korean culture. Nothing too heavy like those that I can find in the movie either.

A lot of guilt. A lot of unspoken love. A lot of pain. A lot of "for the sake of it"

The grandson raped the girl along with 5 others. 6 months later, she jumped to the river and died. Fathers of the 5 paid 5 millions each. Grandma could not figure how to fork out that much. She asked and she got. The process was painful. That was the last resort.

How much will you do for the next of kin? How much is enough? Is enough ever enough?

How do you ask? What do we have to do before we ask?

The ball is rolling and it never stop. You made it round so it can roll. The next time you want it back, it rolls away...

Hello my dear friend

I was looking for jobs and a short term offer came by "for my exposure".

I have to say that it was not pleasant. On the contrary, I learnt to appreciate the previous and current good employers.

I think everyone deserve a good superior who guides and teaches you with his/her valuable experiences in the field and industry.

I thought I was too spoilt but when I broke down, I know it is too much to handle and I should quit before it damages my self esteem and whatever I have got.

I assumed that it was for the best I can develop and for the best environment I will live in. (Yes a lot of assumptions for everyone does it, right?) Whatever that matters to the me seems to turn into the fallibility.

Anyhow, for the sake of a friendship which I wanted to treasure, I shall proceed. If I fail you, my friend, I am sorry. I could not take this any further because I am put to a test that was never before and that I foresee it is going to take a big piece of me away.

[Movie Reflection] A Prophet

As I am mainly waiting for calls these days, *uh hum* I downloaded some movies to watch. As usual, I like movies that make me think and I thought Cannes Film Festival can help me to narrow a lot of the movies that I SHOULD watch.

A prophet is one of them.

I thought it is gonna be very typical. Really.

What can be more interesting than scenes mainly taken in the prison?

Raped. Beaten. Discriminated. Despised.

What else?

In this movie, I actually see something else than that. Much beyond that. The cell mates are being well taken care of. Guards gave simple respect to the cell mates by greeting them good morning and bon appetit.

Of course, this is not the main thing that I've got. I develop with the main character. From being afraid of getting killed to stand up for his own conscience and pride. He built his empire; took the necessary risks; bless his soul and got his way out of it.

The first person he killed, I believe, is the person that he first listen to. He brought him light, brought him sense of security, ease his pain and help him to understand what the real deal was.

Skin colour.

Why do you care? We are all the same inside. We are all the same no matter what we choose to be. We are never different. You never know as you never look inside your soul and see what you are made of. Even when you do, what do you do about it?

Not doing something wrong doesn't mean that you have avoided to do wrongs.

Ok, too much to decipher for now. Good night.

Job Hunting Starts Now

*fingers crossed*

Thursday, January 13, 2011

Finally!

Finally.

I checked that site everyday wishing that it will show me the status of "COMPLETED"
Just a moment ago, I decided to check again.

I was holding my breath as I click on the next sub panel.

Suddenly, a real flash back took place. A lot of the things that had happened in the past four years came into mind. For a moment there, I was not doing anything as if I was possessed.

I am glad. I just need a pass and I do get a pass. I am already contented.

I admit that I did not try hard enough. My mentor once told me that I should feel like I am spreading myself too thin when I really try very hard. Obviously, I was not.

Praise to my Lord for seeing me through this and He has been graceful enough to keep the resources with me and in me.

Thank you!

Zuma King! [Part 3]

Going Insane!
