"The Last Lecture"

I just finished reading the book, "The Last Lecture"

Bf was asking why am I taking such a while to finish reading it. I said, "I wanna go slow on this."

I wanna comprehend each word and phrase in the book. I wanna understand how a short wonderful life he was living can create such an impact on others.

I made it a point to see his video before I started reading the book:-

It was really meaningful. I learnt much. I realised the things I need to change for me to be a better person.

***

A friend once asked me why do the great people die at young age. Without hesitation, I said, "They had lived a fruitful life. It's the quality, not the quantity."

To me, life span is a tank. You fill it up with water. When you stop filling water, your tank gets full later. When you keep filling it, it gets full real fast. Of course, you can fill it up with something else but it gets leaked up because the tank is not meant for other things.

Christmas Pressies

Last Christmas, I gave you my heart and the very the next day, you gave it away!
This year, to save me from tears, I give it to someone special!

Last Christmas, it was not meaningful. There, I said it.

I had the most fruitful one this year. I didn't have the urge to want to leave home and be with other people on the Christmas day. I wanted to be home so much. I am super duper mega glad that my siblings were with me as well. For the very first time, we spent the whole day and night together till we said good night to each other.

Here are some pictures of the Christmas presents I got:-

1. A floral shirt from baby sister

I wore it all day long on Christmas day. She tricked me to choose my own Christmas present. *wicked*

2. Tube top from first brother

I shall wear it on NYE?

3. Pinkie Pirate from small eyed

Lolz, told you I'm a rabbit!

4. Cratbree & Evelyn from Ginny, bf's mother

Totally unexpected!

5. A watch from bf!

Never wear a watch for a very long time. Can you ask me what time it is now... Please.... =P

Thanks baby, totally <3>

Thanks again to everybody who made this Christmas meaningful to me! *muaks*

A Successful Reconciliation

To prepare myself spiritually for Christmas, I told God that I will make a reconciliation with a person whom I had lost. I know in my heart that I always wanted to apologize to Alex again and so I did. Praise to Lord, it was successful and I truly believe that real friendship will go through thick and thin.

On 21st Dec, 2010, I met Alex again after 11 months (stats retrieved from Alex himself).

Honestly, I was feeling really restless. After a long day of driving non stop a day earlier, I thought that I should really not drive again. Anyhow, it was worth the effort.

More to come!

To Alex

Dear Alex,

I am glad that we are friends again. You have no idea how I went through the period without a helpful friend like you.

I know I had been hard headed ever since I know what that is. I am very grateful that you do not take it to your heart.

I am just happy that we can talk to each other again in the way we used to.

Friends forever!

Warmest regards,
Cat.

Ocean Potion

Never a fan of putting sun block.

Some seemed too white on skin

some can't be blend well to be applied evenly on skin

and some are just not effective (the sun burn on the butt is still apparent...!).

Recently, I found Ocean Potion and they have an explanation for their products.

WHAT DOES BROAD SPECTRUM PROTECTION MEAN? According to recent data, it only takes brief, repetitive sun exposure from daily tasks, such as walking to the car or mail box, to initiate skin damage. Prevention of such damage requires Broad Spectrum protection from the ultraviolet B (UVB) rays that cause sunburn and the entire ultraviolet A (UVA) range. Once thought to have negligible effect on the skin, research now shows that UVA may play a significant role in the photaging process. Repeated exposure to the shorter UVA II wavelength and the longer wavelength UVA I may result in excessive dryness, formation of fine lines, wrinkles, irregular skin pigmentation, weakening of the skin’s immune system and skin cancer.

HOW IS PARSOL® DIFFERENT FROM CONVENTIONAL SUNSCREEN? Conventional sunscreens are simply not enough. They are not designed to protect against damaging UVA I wavelengths. These products, principally formulated with UVB and UVA II filters protect against UVB and only partially protect against UVA. They provide little or no protection against UVA I ultraviolet spectrum.

ARE THERE ANY STUDIES TO SUPPORT THIS RESEARCH? Over the last few years pioneering research work has been ongoing at the Department of Dermatology of the University of Pennsylvania using biomarkers to determine the UVA protective values of various UVA filters. In vivo studies on human skin have confirmed the benefits of the combination of the Broad Spectrum UVA filter, Parsol 1789 and other UVB filters in providing optimal protection from repetitive exposure to UV light.

The studies were conducted by Kays Kaidbey, MD Adjunct Professor of Dermatology at the University of Pennsylvania. The following changes were measured: Epidermal Thickening (associated with UVB damage), Sun Burn Cells, p53 Mutations (marker of epidermal DNA damage, Special Enzyme Deposition (the enzyme lysozyme indicates damage to skin's elastin fibers, and Dermal Inflation (indicates damage to the deeper layers of the dermis).

Oh well, now it explains why some sun block just don't work...

As a matter of fact, you gotta use sun block considering that Malaysia is all sunny year long. Despite the mafan-ness, sun block helps to prevent potential skin cancer caused by UV. Ok, I gotta put some ocean potion on my skin before I head out. Chaoz!

2011 wish list [part 1]

Last year, I had my Christmas wish list. I managed to achieve 40% of it.

I bought myself the Golden Half Chelsea Maika. So they said it is limited edition but I found it still on sale *_*

I called mom on my birthday,
Me: It's my birthday!!
Mom: Happy Birthday, dear.
Me: So?
Mom: So what?
Me: What present are you giving me?
Mom: Buy whatever you want la...

The next thing I know? I called Champ (who was then not yet the bf) and off we went to the Gardens and I happily bought it! Though they are not of the same colour stripes, I am happier with green and yellow strips =D

Others? Nah... I went back to the online store that sells the necklace and there is no more. Same thing happened to the heels from Aldo. I was looking for one Christmas log in Penang but I couldn't find any that I like...

This year, it has to be better. However, Christmas is super near now so it only makes sense that I make a general wish list instead of the Christmas one.

1. New iPod Touch with special engraving!

I am not gonna tell exactly what words to be put up there of course. Lolz.

2. Pin-up drawing of me =P

Don't know why... I just have a thing over pin up art =P

3. Diary 2011

Last year, Kim Kim sayang made me a notebook. This year, I am trying my best to drink Starbucks everyday till I get the notebook!

However, I long for a moleskin! But still, what exactly so special about it?!

4. A skin care system that is organic and natural.

I have sensitive skin and the current skin care system does not do me any good. I need something that is more soothing I suppose.

5. A Christmas log
Yesh, this has to be done before Christmas of course. Bernie once told me that it is weird that I wanted a log... I never had a pretty one!

Greenberg (Another emo movie I watched)

I watched Greenberg.

Bf was looking for some pirated movies to buy the other day and this movie caught my eye. I thought he will like Ben Stiller's acting.

It is a comedy-drama.

I realised I started talking a bit like him after the show. Some of the lines are funny but when you read between the lines along with the context and flow of the movie, you won't think of it as funny anymore. Instead, it is painfully funny.

Synopsis from Moviefone:-

Roger Greenberg (Ben Stiller), single, fortyish and at a crossroads in his life, finds himself in Los Angeles, house-sitting for six weeks for his more successful/married-with-children brother. In search of a place to restart his life, Greenberg tries to reconnect with old friends including his former bandmate Ivan (Rhys Ifans). But old friends aren't necessarily still best friends, and Greenberg soon finds himself spending more and more time with his brother's personal assistant Florence (Greta Gerwig), an aspiring singer and also something of a lost soul. Despite his best attempts not to be drawn in, Greenberg and Florence manage to forge a connection, and Greenberg realizes he may at last have found a reason to be happy.

Fragile.

It is easy to be weak. It is never easy to be fragile.

One is of choice and another is not.

Living in the past is stupid. Living in the present and not mindful is a waste of life. Being mindful does not mean you have to totally embrace the presence while ignoring the action plan.

Live a meaningful life is not the same as living a busy life. Doing nothing can be a way of life. (Doing nothing here means not having a full time job specifically) Doing a lot of things can also be one of the ways.

What makes you happy? Is happiness important or you think happiness should not be sought after on purpose?

I *heart* my job

Sometimes my job requires to be more colour, textile and fashion sensitive.

I was requested to use the Polyvore to do some mix and match for jackets and I was amazed by my work!

I cut my hair

Whenever people asked me if I thought of having short hair, I normally responded saying, "I had short hair since forever!"

Well, I cut it. The thing I don't understand now is.... It grows super fast!

I tried to find some pictures of mine in high school online but I couldn't get to any. But hey, I found my old blog post that contains the photos!

Yep, that was me back in high school. I was not alone. Chinese High School. What to do...

I was showing bf my pictures from baby till high school. He was laughing his head off...

Here are the pictures of my long hair before the hair cut:-

It was so long that it disturbs me when I sleep sometimes. Lolz.

No regrets for cutting it short though. Anyhow, not like it's super short now.

First picture after hair cut

Oh well, I need to cut down on my food consumption and start going to the gym!

[Ana Consultancy] Bloggers Makeover Event

If you have been following me on Twitter, you know what I'm doing lately.

Since June, I have been working in Ana Consultancy on a part time basis. My frequently mentioned lady boss is Juliana Cheong who is also the key image consultant here.

Thanks to Rebecca who arranged the Frotera eat out, I met her with May who is also a trainer for Ana Consultancy. Both of them are amazing people. They are the first few inspiring people when I first got out of the vicious cycle which I was enduring for more than two years.

What a memory...

In May, Juliana approached me and offered me a chance to undergo an apprenticeship with her. I did not give too much thoughts to it and I said yes. That was simply because I have faith in her and apparently, it is still going well!

Juliana have been very supportive and she never said no to all the initiatives I've suggested to her. In fact, she taught me how to be more business minded $$. Which is good, of course! I have been not making money since the first internship...

Here is the first social media project we worked out last month with the sponsorship from TANGS. We got eight bloggers to undergo the makeover session. I really really had a lot of fun with them. I have to admit that I lost myself in between =P

Before the makeover, Ana had a private conversation with them to understand each blogger. How you dress yourself forms the impressions that you want others to have over you. Simply put, it is the FIRST IMPRESSION.

Ana talked about the general life goals, the obstacles in life, personal philosophy, emotional stepbacks in the personal consultation. It's like a counseling session already! She sure knows what she is talking about after years of spiritual enhancements. To her, this is crucial. If you do not know a person well enough, you're barely competent to help him/her. What's more than something people put on to face the public everyday?

Here are the great bloggers I met during the private personal consultation:-

3. Vivien Sam (http://www.vvens.com/)

7. Thomas Yap (http://yapthomas.com/)

8. Joshua Ong (http://joshuaongys.com/)

After the meet, the bloggers are to submit their 3 capsules using polyvore. Ana and I will then pre shop for them before the actual event in TANGS. Speaking of that, I am so glad that TANGS is able to sponsor the venue and loan us the clothes for the event. What more, they even sponsor us lunch! Island Bistro was quite cozy except that it can be very cold. I like to sit outside of it. It's nice to have a drink after a long walk in the mall with a great company and some fags. *sidetracked*

After meeting all of them, Ana and I, along with Sasha (the hyper videographer) went to TANGS to do the pre shopping and "field" research.

Pictures taken to test the lighting in the room

I guess I no longer post with normal expressions these days =P

The pre shopping was super tiring wei... 3 full set of apparels each bloggers then sum up to 24 sets per blogger! I'm glad that the concept store is not too huge...

On that day, everyone gathered by the entrance by 10am. I was already running up and down to gather their outfits while the bloggers were chilling in the VIP room.

Wearing super high heel while carrying all the clothes...

While I was carrying the clothes from each department, Ana gave them a briefing and their "before" pictures were taken.

All of them look like as though they just woke up. Lolz.

Next, they started trying on the clothes. *Pictures are not in order*

Ok, done with the proper pictures, time for the candid shots!

Actually, I had my little makeover too!

Some other non relevant pictures =P
